Roland Garros means 15 days of Grand Slam tournament in Paris, nearly half a million visitors and 3,000 people to welcome them in the best possible conditions.
When throughout the year, about 300 people work at Roland Garros Stadium, home office of the FFT, 3,000 employees operate the facilities during the tennis tournament's most-watched television in the world. The fifteen days of competition are only the top of the iceberg as many actions are conducted before the beginning of the competition when the Security Commission gives its approval to the opening of the stadium to the public.A puzzle that comes together slowlyIn between tournaments, the F.F.T. allows ten months to completely renovate or improve infrastructure and uses a budget of € 5 million to € 10 million. As a matter of fact, the extension of the Roland Garros stadium, cramped in his 8.5 ha (compared to other Grand Slam tournaments), will get a bigger different budget .The aim of this work is to improve comfort and safety .
Roland Garros is a real underground city, with many offices and facilities on more than 60,000 m2 of floor space.Happy and lucky tennis players
The Management of the tournament prepares the arrival of the players with great care.
It opens every year an online booking by March so that players can select their room among one of the seven official hotels.About 120 official cars Peugeot (Partner of the tournament since 1984), transports the players from airports to hotels and others facilities as the stadium. In addition, players are offered an uncommon service in Tournaments: Free washing machine. The laundry is delivered every night to Roland Garros players.
33,000 white or Roland Garros printed towels are washed for the tournament. Catering during the tournament is provided by various suppliers that feed the players, the organization and the public in restaurants and take-away outlets. It employs 600 people during the period and serves 15,000 meals a day !
The debriefing, disassembly and cleaning of the facilities of the stadium last two to three weeks after the end of the tournament.
